"If I Can't" By 50 Cent
In a recent discussion with some buddies, we discussed whether or not 50 Cent's debut, Get Rich Or Die Tryin' was a classic. This brought up the idea of one of my favorite songs from that debut, which was "If I Can't". A lesser known song amongst the famous hits that the album spawned, Dr. Dre & Mike Elizondo team up for a bouncy keyboard line that is extremely catchy. 50's hook is infectious while delivering a sophisticated and hungry flow. The song is an example of 50's excellent ability in creating a hook and the type of verses he can deliver when hungry. Unfortunately he's fallen off ever since his debut, but its nice to remember the moments when he was truly hungry and making hits.
